Taniaburg
Leeuwarden, Netherlands
The farm 'Taniaburg' and now also the camping site is located on historic grounds Halfway through the 16th century there was already talk of the 'State Taniaburg' with an associated head-neck-trunk farm. In the year 1839, this farm had to make way for the current head-neck-trunk farm. Around 1990, the municipality of Leeuwarden decided to develop the area around 'Taniaburg' into a nature reserve. The meadows have had to make way for the approximately 100 hectares of forest with beautiful water features. The campsite is therefore uniquely located approximately 100 meters north of Leeuwarden in the middle of water and nature. The farm has been our property since 1995, bought from the Municipality of Leeuwarden, with the idea of turning it into a campsite. The farm was in a very dilapidated state, it took us 2 years to make it livable for the family. Then there was time for the campsite, which was festively opened in 1998. Currently, Camping Taniaburg has grown into a versatile company with many options for overnight stays. The campsite consists of 17 caravan pitches, 11 pitches for campers, a tractor field for the tents, a hiker's cabin, a 2-person apartment. Or there is the possibility to spend the night in our 'guest room' Camping Taniaburg is listed in the Capitol travel guide "The most beautiful campsites in the Netherlands".
